Vic: Man robbed and bashed with torch
MELBOURNE, Dec 4 AAP - A 62-year-old man suffered serious facial injuries when he was
allegedly bashed with a torch and robbed while walking to his shop at Oakleigh, in Melbourne's
south-east, early today.
The victim was approached by two men as he walked along Portman Street about 4.20am
(AEDT), police said.
One of the men allegedly bashed him with a torch and stole his briefcase.
Police patrolling in the area arrested two men shortly after the alleged incident.
They have been charged with armed robbery and intentionally causing serious injury, police said.
Robert David Jeffrey, 30, of Monze Drive, Langwarrin, and Shaun Andrew Lacey, 30, of
Mine Street, Foster, were both remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday,
police said.
