Fed: SAS soldier recovering in hospital, ADF says
Defence officials say an Australian soldier wounded in a landmine blast in Afghanistanis recovering in hospital.
The elite SAS trooper had his big toe blown off and another toe removed by doctorsfollowing the blast.
The incident occurred last Thursday during operations to seek out suspected al-Qaedabases in southern Afghanistan.
Defence spokesman Brigadier GARY BORNHOLT on Friday said the soldier also sustainedmultiple fractures in his right foot and ankle, and numerous cuts.
