Fed: CBA plans expansion into European market

CANBERRA, Feb 6 AAP - The Commonwealth Bank would look for expansion opportunities
in Europe, chief executive David Murray said today.

However, the bank's interest in the Northern Hemisphere would not centre on acquisitions
of established financial institutions, he said.

Mr Murray declined to release details of specific products and markets but said the
CBA wanted the venture to eventually account for 25 per cent of the bank's market capitalisation.
