VIC: Beechworth area towns warned of fire

Residents in the Beechworth area and surrounding towns in Victoria's northeast have
been warned that they could come under threat from a bushfire early this morning.

The Country Fire Authority says the towns of Beechworth .. Myrtleford .. Ovens .. Barwidgee
Creek .. Mudeegonga .. Bruarong .. Glen Creek .. Stanley .. Rosewhite .. Kancoona and
Kancoona South could come under threat.

The CFA says the fire burning south of Beechworth is moving in a easterly direction
and many of the towns are under attack from embers.

NSW:Man charged over NSW shooting

A man has been charged with intent to murder after a householder was shot in the arm
on the NSW north coast.

Police went to a house in Toormina in November after reports a man had been shot and
found the 30-year-old occupant with a gunshot wound in his upper arm.

They've now charged a 29-year-old man over the incident, he's been refused bail and
will appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on December 13.
